Why is obedience important?

Obedience is important to people for many different reasons, but ultimately we all want a well-mannered pooch. We want a dog who doesn’t accost our guests when they enter our home. We want a dog who doesn’t knock over the neighbor kids when they run down the street. We want a dog that we can take places with us and doesn’t embarrass us by her unruliness. We need a dog who, if they pick up something dangerous, will drop it on command. We need a dog who won’t hump people when they sit on our couch. We want a dog who won’t drag us down the street when we take him for a walk. We need a dog who will listen to our children when they tell her what to do. We need a dog that will come when called. We want a dog who will go to his place and lay down when things get hectic around the house. We need a dog who will let anyone handle her for a nail trim, ear cleaning, vet visit, grooming appointment. We want a dog who doesn’t bark incessantly when we leave. We need a dog who will be trustworthy in our home. We need a dog that when people meet him, they compliment us on how well behaved he is. When you get right down to it, obedience is important to you and your dog every day.
